Holmes + Brakel was founded in 1975 by Rick Holmes, continuing a family entrepreneurial tradition that began in 1915. In 1983, Holmes + Brakel aligned with Canadian furniture manufacturer Teknion. The company expanded into the United States in 1997 with operations in Florida, followed by Ottawa in 1998 and Vancouver in 1999. In 2025, Holmes + Brakel celebrated 50 years in business.
